India and Evangelism by Bufe Karraker on 10/6/85

October 12th, 2017

Bufe was about to head to India for a Mission trip and the church prays for Bufe and Marty who was going with him at the beginning.      Marty then sings.

I WILL PASS THIS WAY BUT ONCE

I will pass this way but once if there's any good that I can do
Let me know it now for I'll never pass this way again
I will see this day but once if there's any kindness I can show
Let me show it now for I'll never see this day again

Tomorrow may be too late my friend to do all the good that you planned
So reach out to those who need you and lend them a helping hand

I will know this world but once if there's any love that I can give
Let me give it now, oh Lord for I’ll never know this world again

Tomorrow may be too late my friend to do all the good that you planned
So reach out to those who need you and lend them a helping hand

I will know this world but once if there's any love that I can give
Let me give it now, oh Lord for I’ll never know this world again
So, let me give it now, oh Lord for I’ll never know this world again

Then Bufe gives a message about the upcoming trip.  People had asked him, "Why are you going to India?  Aren't there enough sinners in Fresno?  Why do you need to go over there?" Bufe says in the natural, he could write India off.  History tells us that Thomas went to India and established the church of Christ there.  But there has been mostly rejection there.  They are religious, but blinded to the truth of Jesus Christ.   Bufe's desire was to go to Poland to share the gospel, but the Lord said, "Go to India."  Bufe talks about Jesus' parable of the farmer and the wheat and thistles in his field.

Five Imperatives for Corinth and for Us by Bufe Karraker on 10/4/87

October 11th, 2017

Paul wrote to the folks at Corinth, a vile and sinful city before Paul arrived to share the gospel.  He wrote to them about following the Lord and not a person like a pastor.  He wrote to them about their gross immorality and their idolatry.  He wrote to them about spiritual gifts.  He talks to them about the importance of the resurrection.  In Chapter 16:13,14, Bufe talks about 5 imperatives that Paul laid on the people.  Bufe talks about the spiritual battle we are in.  Be full of courage.  And do everything in love.

Consider Sacrifice by Bufe Karraker on 10/3/93

October 10th, 2017

Do you accumulate more or do you desire less?  We are bombarded by advertisements on TV, radio, magazines, billboards and the internet to accumulate more.  Sacrifice is a characteristic of the family of God.  Is your attitude like the attitude of Jesus when it comes to sacrifice?  Legalism, guilt, peer pressure and manipulation should not be your motivation.  Deal directly with God and see what you should be doing.  Sacrifice should start with the heart.  Sacrifice is a measure of kingdom values and kingdom impact.  Sacrifice doesn't last forever.

The Sin of Prayerlessness by Bufe Karraker on 10/2/88

October 9th, 2017

What are our primary faults?  Sin of prayerlessness.  The inability to get alone with God and talk to God.  Most of us do not do that.  Bufe talks about Elijah who was completely human as we are.  He was a man of prayer.  He was a man of obedience.  Bufe shares the story in the Old Testament about the incredible power of God flowing through Elijah.  Bufe closes with words from Alfred Lord Tennyson.

James 5, 1 Kings 17, 1 Kings 18

Sold Out to God by Bufe Karraker on 10/1/94

October 8th, 2017

Bufe talks about Paul starting with the stoning of Stephen and then his conversion when he met Jesus Christ.   Paul had a driving passion before and after he met Christ.  He was sold out to Satan first and then to God after his conversion.  Are you sold out to God?  Do you share the gospel with all the people you can?  Do you realize that all you really can count on is today?  None of us knows about tomorrow.

He is Able by Bufe Karraker on 10/11/92

October 6th, 2017

Bufe's parents were saved when he was six.  He shares how it was looking for the right church and then attending church in the morning, in the evening and during the week.  The part he looked forward to was the end.  That's when the pastor, Dr. Bauman, did the benediction.  Bufe reads 3 great benedictions from the Bible.  God is able to make you strong and steady in the Lord, and is able to do more than we ever dream of.  God is able to keep us from slipping and falling away as long as we rely on Him.  He brings us sinless and perfect into His glorious presence.

Praise the Lord, Oh My Soul by Bufe Karraker on 10/18/87

October 5th, 2017

Do you praise the Lord just for who He is?  Are you in touch with Jesus understanding how He wants to communicate with us?  Do you give yourself to growth in the Word of God so you can understand who He is?  Bufe looks at Jesus' titles: Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.  We need to meditate on these names.  Seek Him in each one of these four roles.  Examine ourselves on where we are failing to let Him relate to you? Take time to worship God for who He is.

Distributing the True Bread of Life by Bufe Karraker on 10/29/95

October 4th, 2017

Bread is a unique product.  It is the staff of life.  Great bread can be found all over the world.   Bufe's message is about Jesus being the bread of life.  What should we do to satisfy God?  You satisfy God by believing in the one He sent, Jesus Christ.    Jesus said, "I am the Bread of life."  Bufe talks about the 4 parts in the process of making and distributing bread and the similarities in Jesus' life.  Many people are okay with talking about God, but when you try and tell them that Jesus is the only way to God, they want to shut you down.  The distribution of the Bread (Jesus) is up to us.  We need to tell others of Jesus, the Bread of Life.  Bufe talks about the right way to distribute the Bread.

Knowing Jesus Better by Bufe Karraker on 10/27/91

October 3rd, 2017

Bufe had recently attended a conference where he met R. C. Sproul and others who were outstanding speakers and writers during the early 90's.  He also talks about his Uncle Harmon's funeral that had just taken place.  This message is about growing in spiritual strength and getting better aquainted with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.    He talks about the majesty of Jesus Christ and the non-negotiable tenants of our faith.  Our churches need to be Christ-centered and not derailed with other messages.
